Dementia Care Training ProgramsThe syndrome of dementia may be caused by over 100 different pathologies/conditions, but as you know the most common include Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Lewy body dementia. Each of these diseases will present differently in each person and they will progress at different rates. Therefore, there is no single care strategy that will work for all people with dementia but Age Concern offers you education on one of only two published Person Centre Care models for clients with dementia. Such models provide you with the frame work and allows you to develop individual care for each client, not matter the stage of the disease or the care setting. Prue Mellor has been involved in research of this model and presented her findings at the XIXth IAGG Congress of Gerontology & Geriatrics, Paris, 2009 We currently offer the following dementia programs:
